REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez is drawing up plans that would destroy the English Premier League in its current form.

Perez wants a Super League put in place that could see England's top four turn their back on the Premier League to play the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona every week.

He said: "What we need to work out with UEFA is a European Super League that guarantees that all the top teams play each other all the time - something that does not happen in the current Champions League."

Perez's Real revolution this summer has already seen Cristiano Ronaldo move to Madrid for £80million.

The Spanish giants' huge pulling power also saw Chelsea miss out on Brazilian target Kaka.

Now Perez wants to sit down with European football's governing body and effectively asset-strip the English league.

The plan is to maximise TV revenue and sponsorship deals for Europe's big clubs and would threaten the future of the smallest sides in the Premier League.

Asked if he would put his full weight behind a Super League he added: "Yes, but without abandoning national leagues."

It would make Everton the best team in the Premier League. :)

The whole idea is flawed though, it would just stop the big 4 from ever changing and It'd be awful for fans, away support would be dreadful.

Im all for European co-operation, but the teams will lose their regular supporters. Not everyone has the $£$£ to fly around Europe following their team. Travelling around UK on a bus is a lot cheaper!

Sure first couple of years will be a novelty but after that, the demise of football?

It isn't necessarily a totally ridiculous idea really from a financial standpoint.

TV companies and sponsors would jizz all over themselves for the opportunity. Sky would pay billions alone, never mind other European broadcasters and worldwide broadcasters.
Sponsors would flood, hundreds of millions of people would watch, teams would become mega rich over night.

It'll kill football in Europe though, that's for certain. Small clubs would wave goodbye to any money, TV contracts wouldn't be worth as much, every league would be hurt.

And of course, don't think you're not going to get dominance of three or four teams in that elite Europe group of teams.

Obviously it wont happen, but if it did, good luck to them, teams that did join could join Perez in sodomising themselves with rusty car parts for all I care.

Quite simply, the funniest thing I have read all month! :rotfl:

Thanks for that Colin! :good:

As for my view on this European Super League. It would seriously suck the money out of all the domestic leagues in Europe. That would be devastating for the game and for the recruitment of future footballers.

Agreed. Seems like a terrible idea. Can't expect much from a Madridista though :rotfl:
