    Damn, this post looked like it would of been epic to of viewed all those clips, but sadly none of them seem to work for me.... which is a pity, as they all looked funny as hell...

    What on earth was that about? I really can't get my head around it, you train for 4 years, you bust your gut to get to the Olympics, your finally there, and then you do your best to loose? Why?

    It was the odd situation where the winning team would be in the same side of the draw as the number 1 seeds, which would probably mean a Semi-final or Quarter-final defeat and at best a bronze medal. Losing and going into the other half of the draw would have given them a better chance of reaching the final and getting at least a silver medal. They were just giving them selves the best chance of winning a medal, so it's a little odd that they were disqualified for not trying to win.

    The problem only existed because the teams new the results from the other group, so they knew how the result of their group would affect their potential opponents in the knock out rounds. This is one of the issues with the round robin format, if the strongest team in a group finish 2nd it incentivizes finishing 2nd in other groups to avoid them. Ideally the groups should finish at the same time to prevent this from happening, although this is not necessarily possible as it'd require more courts.
