I'm not entirely sure how, but it was brilliant. Ponting is going to get a hounding from the Australian press for his choice of bowlers towards the end.

England made a good start but then a few batsmen threw their wickets away cheaply, it's looking very similar to the first test, I hope England can push on to somewhere near 500 and then bowl the Aussies out cheaply.

Looking at the weather forecast it seems that this match will be a wash out. A draw seems the likely outcome at the moment.

Pietersen is really beginning to **** me off, he has so much talent but seems to cavalier and arrogant to become a great cricketer.

We were looking really good at 196/1 and 267/2 but then lost the plot a bit.

Not sure if the weather will be that bad Chris, only tomorrow looks bad. If we can manage to get close to 500 then the pressure is really gonna be on the Aussies. Just have to hope our bowlers click, it looks like a wicket with a bit in it for bowlers who are prepared to bend their back.

Great day for England. It was a bad start with the bat but the bowlers dug in and put us in the driving seat. We should be able to enforce the follow on and put the Aussies under immense pressure.

Shane Watson has been brought in for Phillip Hughes, I'm not sure I understand why, Hughes wasn't playing badly. I guess they are going for some more experienced players.

Bell brought in for the injured Pietersen, no other changes, Harmison still left out (I really thought he'd be put in for this test as the pitch really suits his bowling).

Watson to open the batting as well, he's only ever done that in the shorter game!!! The pitch is spongy with little bounce and even more so due to all the rain of late, right decision to leave Harmison out imo Chris.

Doesn't look like we'll get more than 3 days play in this test due to the weather forecast. Likely outcome is a draw unless one of the sides get bowled out real cheaply in their first innings.

From what Steve Rouse and Ponting have said about the pitch it seems that the wicket is quite hard it's just the outfield that's a bit jelly-like. Edgbaston really favours seamers, especially those like Flintoff and Harmison. Weather isn't looking good for any play today, although it's finally stopped raining in my village after nearly 2 solid days of rain. I've seen how quickly they can dry the outfield at Edgbaston but it's been raining pretty constantly for the last 2 weeks now, it'll be a tough ask to get the match started today sadly.
