Barely competition. They source the TV from a capture device on the computers system the way I am understanding it. Using the DVB-T Signal.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yea, you need a tv card and their app on computer which i think you have to pay for. But that's how crap the competition is. tbph
Thats not direct competition, nothing to worry about. Something for them to worry about is us getting on the app store, then they will get no sales.

" You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment. "
You need to have one of Elgato's TV tuners and the EyeTV software installed on your Mac for this app to work.
I've got it and it does work extremely well, the picture quality is perfect and the app is very easy to use.
The downside is that it is streaming the video from the TV tuner connected to your computer, to your iPhone, so if your Mac is turned off, or the tuner is unplugged you're out of luck.
I'll personally be switching to using the TVC app when it comes out, so long as the quality of the video stream is just as good.
