Sky Songs is Sky's new subscription music streaming and download service. As a Beta Bonus, it is offering one month free, and one £6.49 album free, exclusively to Sky Broadband customers.

You do have to provide card details (or your SkyID details), but by selecting "One Month only," you should avoid being sucked into the service - removing the onus on you to cancel before the end of the first month.

The best part is that the downloaded mp3s are DRM free, so you can use them with whatever device you want.

It is a little bit sneaky, I suppose. I'm still waiting to see if a charge for £0.00 will show up on my statement. Part of me hopes that it will.

I thought I would update you all on this, incase you were interested.

I am usually very good at making sure that my email address is not added to email subscription lists etc, and I always make sure that I opt out, or don't opt in. Still, I must have missed this one, because the service comes with an email subscription to their newsletter. Nevertheless, clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails works perfectly.
