There have been a couple of threads that made me wonder how others watch television.

At the moment I have my normal television with a digital hard drive to record programs. I no longer have a dvd or video player.

I also have a separate hard drive connected to my television which plays most video formats like .avi files. This works well for me as I do not need to burn dvd's anymore which I constantly failed at.

As I rarely watch things live I still rely on the procedure which I dare not speak its name. So I still wait for the day when TVC gives us the record facility.

I suppose I am still old fashioned so enjoy watching things on a television style screen. So I all I need is a t.v with built in hard drives that have the ability of VLC and a downloading ability from the internet.

I would also like Santa to get rid of .mkv files as they just upset me.

I have a server as my medium, everything is downloaded via that wired computer.
Then I use an old laptop in main room connected via S-Video to stream things from that on the Big TV.
Otherwise i use my computer/ps3 connected to projector to watch things in bedroom, but more common than that is just to watch it on the other VDU.

I no longer have DVD/Video Player connected to TV so use Blue ray on PS3/Laptop

I foresee this discussion to have a possibility to cross the line, so lets refrain from discussing illicit methods of getting files on to hardrives..

I usually watch late at night so I have a setup similar to H4U's in that I have a projector with 7.1 speaker system, so I lay back in bed while Mrs. Colwal feeds me grapes and pours my wine.

Sky +HD box downstairs and Sky + (soon to be HD) upstairs. Just record and watch on my modest 42" plasma.
