Near death experiences (NDEs), reported to include sensations such as life flashing before the eyes, feelings of peace and joy, and apparent encounters with mystical entities, may be caused by raised levels of carbon dioxide in the blood. Researchers writing in BioMed Central's open access journal Critical Care investigated the unexplained events in 52 cardiac arrest patients.
Zalika Klemenc-Ketis worked with a team of researchers from the University of Maribor, Slovenia, to examine patients who reported NDEs. She said, "Several theories explaining the mechanisms of NDEs exist. We found that in those patients who experienced the phenomenon, blood carbon dioxide levels were significantly higher than in those who did not".
Of the 52 patients, 11 reported NDEs. Their occurrence did not correlate with patients' sex, age, level of education, religious belief, fear of death, time to recovery or drugs given during resuscitation. They were more common in people who had previously experienced NDEs. According to Klemenc-Ketis, "Our study adds new and important information to the field of NDE phenomena. The association with carbon dioxide has never been reported before, and deserves further study".

    Default I prefer DMT theory

DMT has also been linked to near death and it makes sense that a drug that is made naturally in the body would create this sensation. Maybe the level of CO2 is connected to the increase of DMT.

I have never taken the pure form but did do the more natural type which involved a lot of cooking on my behalf and the drink I created was incredibly hard to ingest though did give the desired effect.

To dumb it down a bit, I think I maybe having a near death experience later on as I have just blown up my wife's Tom Tom after I over charged it last night, and tonight she needs to drive to Belgium.

Default Colin take your punishment like a man

I once poured red wine on my wife's laptop. Not only was it a waste of wine the keyboard did not like it so decided to go on permanent strike.

Advice: If you pour liquids on a lap top turn it upside down and switch it off for 24 hours.

My punishment was to eat three umeboshi (sour plums) for three days. That might seem a mild punishment but believe me I suffered.

Now we have to think of a suitable punishment for Colin that will keep his wife happy. Be careful she might send you to the North pole to collect ice samples.

Trying to pull the wool over your wife's eyes... there's absolutely no way this could go wrong. Enjoy your NDE
