Jul/Aug/Sep ... Bit vague but good news

Desire getting a bit old, need something new to play with at night.

portable hotspot and Flash, some great features!

'Good news' will be witnessing HTC's ability to lessen the demands of the Sense UI on Androids available resources. It's supposed to be a skin, not a sub-system, and any improvements to the underlying operating platform could be marred by a lacklustre overlay that removes much of what was to gain. If anything, it's the improvements in the Sense UI that I most look forward to seeing, since Android itself was already pretty solid.

I'm looking forward to having the portable hotspot functionality back, since I miss this from my Nokia. Flash support will definitely be a functional boon although I would hope that given the insistence of its addition, battery saving measures and general systems efficiencies have been widely and strenuously tightened elsewhere to accomodate it with a marginal loss of longevity.

No phone is fantastic for battery life given what we now ask of them, but one can hope for improvements in code.

Leon, I am not 100% sure as I have not rechecked, but I am almost sure I saw an app for that as I was going through the app market last night... I will check it out and see.

Hmm, beg your pardon as it seems I was wrong...

It can be done, but you have to root the thing and install a whole mess of crap on your computer to get it to work. Which kind of defeats the object of ditching the wire in the first place if you need to load some software onto every target computer first... which is doubtless Windows only.

Ultimately I didn't jump on Android in order to have to root the thing to get it to do what I want (that's kind of the point of going Android!) however given its age, I'm willing to bide my time for it to make up ground against some of the respected and mature aspects of its well-weathered competitors.

So far the experience is largely impressive.

I agree and as I was a bit sceptical before I bought this Desire, but now I am finding it harder to see what it doesn't do, let alone what it does do
