Default TV Outside of UK with Subscription Service

In terms of Licensing etc... would it be viable for someone to watch television channels outside of the UK if they sign up to a subscription service via payment with a UK Credit/Debit card?

This would be proof alone that the person in question would be a UK citizen and probably away on Holiday missing their daily dose of Eastenders or BBC Breakfast

That is not the overriding important factor as the UK TV Licence only allows watching of UK TV from within the confines of the UK's borders and there is no leniency on this.

Out of interest, would that include (or exclude) the british Realm? Also what do they do to controlt he footprint of "SES Astra" (Sky's satellite)? I know plenty of people who are British but live in France. Is there anything that stops them from using a Skybox outside of the UK for example?

British Realm is England, Scotland, N Ireland and Wales (i don't know about British settlements like the Falkland Islands if the TV licence covers there)
As for using a British sky box in France, people do it but i think its prob against the tv licence law here, hard to inforce in another country though.

As TVC is a British company, its easy for the government to take action against them if they provide TV to people outside of the UK.
Its a totally different set of circumstances

Sky have been working with other TV companies across EU to stop relay of their Sky subscription channels and many dishes for example in Spain have been confiscated; so doing this abroad is illegal and you are taking a risk in doing so.

Didnt realise that.... These companies are silly for not supporting outside of the UK. I use a few "US" based broadcast services, and its great to have access to international TV (even if you have to pay for it). Ah well, lets heop some day down the line, the law will open it's eyes to the real meaning of "freedom" :-D
