Default BBC iPlayer gets ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Five, Fiver, Five USA and S4/C

The BBC iPlayer’s just got even better. In an update rolled out on the 17th of February 2011, content from non-BBC providers has been added to search results.

From the Search box or from the TV Channels section, you can now find programmes from other video-on-demand providers. This includes broadcasters ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, as well as content from SeeSaw. If you select a link from a non-BBC provider, you’re taken to their site (i.e. the video doesn’t play through the BBC iPlayer)

Other video-on-demand operators are able to apply for inclusion on the BBC iPlayer feed.
ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Five, Fiver, Five USA and S4/C have all been added to the iPlayer it seems. You have to click a greyed out button that does not stand out very well and their does not seem to be much content yet available, but if you look closely its their.

Unfortunately not as good as TVCatchup Version1, but a good step forward, no?
