    Default Possible: iPhone Web Application

    ------------
    14 October 2009 - THIS TOPIC IS NOW OLD AND IN PARTS NO LONGER RELEVANT.
    TVCatchup can now stream from the internet on iphone: http://iphone.tvcatchup.com
    We are also awaiting approval for an application.
    Thank You all for your input in this discussion.

    Hello .

    Making iphone compatible websites is not that hard for me, creating secure application requiring users to login to tvcatchup is fine.

    The problem arises that I'm unsure what video format you publish the videos in. The iPhone only supports limited amount of video types here is a quote:
    H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

    H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

    MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    If tvcatchup supports one of these video types (I think .mp4 or .mov ) I should be able to have the application on-line for you within 48 hours.

    /edit Here is an example video.

    If you were successful in doing this, you would potentially be my favourite person. Having TV Catch Up on the iPhone would be THE most amazing thing for us iPhone users!!!

    Not only you guys at TVC, TVC_Daniel, I would be ecstatic to see such a web application for the iphone/ipod touch.

    TVC currently makes it's streams available as Flash Video (9/10). This may be a temporary measure as Flash is just a means of getting the video to the customer - if/when the API is opened up this may allow for other video formats to be explored.

    As far as I know, the iPhone does not support Flash at all, so TVC in it's current form will not work, no matter how good a developer you are

    Yes! the Iphone does not support flash (yet, adobe is may/maynot be developing addon). I am a "good developer" and If I had enough bandwidth I could pull of a on-line conversion flv to mov.

    TVC_Daniel I sent you a PM showing live link.

    Every one else will have to do with a Video Example.

    Not doubting your development capabilities in the slightest, that app looks fantastic for the iPhone owners. Obviously I missed the part stating you'd need a compatible stream format to even begin.

    Lets keep our fingers crossed, as if 3gp is supported its likely that Nokia compatible version could be made, and so on.....
