how do you enable plugins for safari or java

Ok, tried it through my wifi connection to itouch and get the message "Download Failed. Safari cannot download this file." on all channels. Can browse to other pages etc all fine and have all javascript / plug ins etc switched on on the itouch. Works fine on the PC. What am I doing wrong?
Are you pointing to the TVCatchup address or the iPhone address ?

Following instructions to the letter. Can access BBC iplayer no probs and all other browsing in safari. Does anyone else have this working on a wifi connection on an itouch? Any ideas on what could be wrong? Is it me or the app?
