This has rapidly turned into a browser war thread So I'll just say that I have to use IE, Chrome and Firefox as they are all slightly deficient in different ways, and this deficiency varies as each new version comes out. The only way I can do everything that I want is to use all three of them. I use hundreds of bookmarks and a prime requirement for me is for them to keep synchronised between all my browsers on all my Windows computers. This means that Xmarks must support them; this rules out Opera, but I see that Safari is supported. But I haven't tried that and I can't think of a reason for adding a fourth browser to my arsenal

Opera ships with a function called Link, which keeps all your bookmarks, speed dials etc synced across all your Opera installations for you - desktop and mobile. The content can be accessed and managed via your Opera Link account online when you're without your computer or, in the browser itself, and I think you can also save out a CSV/HTML file for import should you choose to change to something else at a later date. Opera is capable of importing bookmarks from most other rival browser installations aswell I believe... but I've never needed to do it.

Chrome can do all that and sync with your gmail account so you can sync to any chrome browser anywhere - come to think of it so does Firefox

Synching between only browsers of its own type is exactly what I don't want. With Xmarks, I open any browser that I want on any machine and add a bookmark to it. Later I open any browser on any machine and that bookmark is in it. Brilliant. I don't have to bother with importing and exporting. As Xmarks can't do Opera due to its closed interface I think, I don't use Opera. Pity as it's quite aolid otherwise.
