Freeview I would be amazed if you could do any more than create a blip on the sales of one store. Tesco's is massive and one customer complaint like yours does not count for much.

I would of just got my money back and not gone through all the hassle of trying new televisions that are obviously sub standard. I grew up when televisions often broke down just after the warranty. Many times I would have to smack the tv just to get the three colours working. When I got older for reasons I really do not understand I would buy Sony televisions and all three of them lasted 2 years and 1 week before becoming defunct. I never bought another Sony product after that. I do not think I would have ever chosen to buy anything electronic from Tesco's even if it seemed like a bargain.

Plus please be nice to the staff especially the ones dealing with you locally. They really do not have the authority or power to help you properly so having a go is just giving someone else a bad day and does not resolve anything. Be polite and move up the command ladder until you can liase with someone important. All you have to do is ask for the local stores manager/manager and send one letter and if no luck move up. Same with customer service teams just move up slowly and give each level one chance. BUT at ALL times BE POLITE.

    Hi Tacoben,

Thank you for your reply, and I do appreciate all comments...

I know I will hardly impact the sales, a one man army against the might of an entire global store..... but hey, anything that counts all adds up!!! And trust me, after the hoops Ive jumped through to get no where, this is only way I feel justice can be served... They do not want to help me, so why should I help them???

Of course I would of loved the money back, and this is what I had asked for all the long...? Either my money back, or a replacement TV... Heck, it wasnt even out of the warranty when the thing had started glitching. And I went through all the proper channels, books, procedures, was polite at all times... If ya know me, or met me in real life you would know I am everything buy polite. I always aim to help others, in anyway possible... I've been in their shoes before, and my job deals with dealing with customers/clients on a daily basis, and am always professional and polite at all times.

I had asked for money back, but they refused as they could not find a fault wrong with it, when it so clearly was there. I even took the TV to different locations and others still saw the fault. Yet the Tescos Engineers and Tesco's sales people in store could not see the fault (denying it basically) and when dealing over the phone or eMail on numeous occassions I was always polite, even though they said there is nothing they can do as the reports come back that its not faulty. How would they know, they've not even seen the TV face to face, and only going via reports. Despite speaking to Customers Services who put ya straight back to Tech Support, who then say there is nothing they can do, goto Customer Services who then put ya back to Tech Support and again and again... and so I raised it with the manager of Customer Services who promised to resolve this, after not hearing anything for a couple of days I then get a call from a low down Customer Services, back to the start of the pecking order again...

So again and again I raise it politely... and getting no where!!!

Basically I have no other options to try, other than apply preasure!!! Either that, or I walk upto a Tesco's store and litterly set fire to £350 just like that and say "Well that was well worth it" as thats all I am getting at the moment... bye bye money.

Ok, so I bought from Tesco's, lesson learnt.... wont ever do that again. But at the end of the day, I have my rights, consumer rights... and cheap or not cheap, the end of the day the TV should of at least lasted the lenth of the warranty if only that... afterwards is a different matter. Even then its still covered by the EU law for an additional year, or by Sales of Goods act for a further 5x years...

So I applied preasure and sure enough, I get actions this time.... I never swore whilst I was on the phone, that is not in my nature. I merely raised my voice, my tone, so show anger at the fact nothing is being done about it. Heck this all started 7x months into the warranty... Well, when ya think back with the first TV it all happened within the first month. I wasnt to know I would have all these issues, nor was I told I could get my money back then, as they only offered a replacement then.

I told the girl afterwards that my anger was not at her, and that it was aimed at Tesco the company, as someone is not taking the blame...? Or is it Tesco policy to annoy all their customers until they leave??

She put me in touch with a manager, the same manager who I spoke to previously who didnt want to deal with it and past me back down to the start of the pecking order.... so you can see my frustration!!!

So he promises me he will call me back Monday, which he did... but sadly as I work in IT in a school, I was not near my phone at the time and missed the call. He promised me he would call me back the day after... and guess what??? Im still waiting....

So I will give it till the end of the week, before I get in touch again... but really, should a customer have to goto all these lenths??? No....

As said, lesson learnt... and shall no longer shop/buy at Tescos.... My current TV, which is an LG from Richer Sounds, couldnt be more happier... The colours are perfect, the functions all work, the picture and features are amazing.... I am amazed at this TV and if only I had shopped with them first then all this could of been avoided.

I shall not give up, its £350 that as said, might as well have just burnt outside the property of Tescos for that all it was good for... NOTHING!!!

I've got to admit I'd buy nothing technical from Tesco, I'd never even consider it seeing how it gets chucked on and off the lorries and dumped onto cages (They honestly don't care about the TVs that much!), however this more than likely happens at most places how it gets delivered but I'd never buy anything "Technika " as it's like buying Tesco Value Brand TV it's just not going to work very well! Infact I did buy some earphones the other day as was going for a rather long ride and forgot my norrmal earphones and hell do you notice the cheapness of Tesco Own Brand earphones!

I bought the TV we have downstairs from Richer Sounds and it has passed the warranty by just over a year I'd guess now and it hasn't let us down at all.

    Hi TVC_NickUK,

Granted, and that is a perfect assumption of Tesco's, and their value range. And as I've said before... my lesson has been learnt, albeit for me, the hard way lol

I guess I took a risk, but at the time it seemed ok, due too...

    1) My dad had one as a secondary TV for the Bedroom (Downstairs is a SamSung which has been brilliant and must of had that for like 2 to 4yrs now) as we bought it litterly like 30mins before the last Euro or World Cup.... so funny our normal trust Grundig decided to die litterly before the England game, and so dad and myself raced out an jus bought one lol - but anyway, his Technika was brilliant. Quality was amazing, features brilliant... everything you would want, and more!!! and still is working great now.

    2) At the time, I didnt really have the money to splash out, and pay near on £1,000 or more to get a good good TV... So I guess I went based on dads one, and being newer, hoping it would be better (seems Technika cut corners themselves in the couple odd years) and within my price range. Annoyingly within weeks of buying it, not only that model, but all branded TVs like fell litterly half price, and were then in my range... GREAT!!!

And so ended up with this heap of junk, which has been problematic ever since. Whats more worrying though is Tesco's lack of service or care to customers. Its day 3 now, and still no phone call... I shall call them up tomorrow and find out where I stand now.... Just want to get it done with.... But will never trust Tesco again.

Like you, I bought my TV from Richer Sounds and I am jus in ore of it... its amazing!!! And it also came with 5yr warranty as free, as they matched John Lewis who was doing the same. They said if there was a fault and they cant fix it, they give me a similar model in exchange whilst they fix it. And if they cant fix it, they will swap the TV for one of a similar spec, not similar price... bonus!!

So yeah, Richer Sounds defo way to go...

I bought a Technika LCD26-920 ex-display model from Tesco's which was reduced in price (just a small scratch on top of the frame) and - wait for it - it is EXCELLENT! Apart from the usual TV programmes, I can watch movies and TV shows downloaded from the internet on my Technika TV via its VGA cable connection. Also, I can look at my photos via the USB/Memory stick facility.

Sorry for your experience, Freeview but there are bad apples in every barrel (i,e., bad branches of shops). Every shop, I'm sure has customers who say, "Don't shop at (fill in space)!!

Re. Richer Sounds -to prove my point that there are bad apples in every barrel, quote:

"Hitachi L42VP01U from Richer sounds - What a pile of crap this TV has been... PSU failure in first year, Richer Sounds had it fixed somewhere in leeds, after it came back on warm-up it makes a glass/metal creaking sound due to the heat expansion of the backlight tubes i guess, and now its developed an audio fault where the speakers crackle and sound goes off for like 15 seconds, although once went for an hour, it does this 4/5 times a night, and also sometimes says no input and blue screens when there is! (once went off like that for 3 days!)"

    Above quote from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JStM6JjgHwA

So - one man's Hitachi L42VP01U from Richer sounds, is another man's Technika from Tesco's!

    Hi Timraw and Mikhuytra,

Ive heard of Logik before? Is it only to Asda, or is it sold elsewhere as well...??

And fully understand your comment Mikhuytra, sure... as I was explaining to someone at work today... What is good for one person, isnt so for the other, and what is bad for someone else may be good for you.... It all comes down to personal experience. We were discussing mobile networks at work, JOY!!! lol

But yeah, I guess I just had a really bad spell/experience at Tesco's I guess, with 3x dud TVs in less than 7 months... and then the lack of after sales care. I guess that put me in a really bad mood, and view of the company... That said, a TV I purchased from them like 10 yrs prior if not more... also developed a fault in the first two weeks and they gave me the run around then too, not as bad as last few months, but wasnt smooth. However as its a large superstore litterely feet from our house to save travelling I purchased from there as like you, and my dads TV... the previous Technika range/models were awesome. Couldnt fault quality or features of the older models. However mine.... Hmmm....

Anyway, I hope I have a trouble-free experience from Richer Sounds and that this TV lasts me... certainly loving it so far.....

And guess what, I share great news!!! As of today, Tesco have come back to me, and have actually offered me a FULL REFUND on the Telly.... which did suprise me, didnt see that coming. And so after a little chat, I am now happy that Tesco have taken ownership and responsibility of the matter, and resolved a customer experience. I am glad to be getting this money back, as the TV is good for nothing now... and redundant due to having to purchase a TV elsewhere...

So all is good in the end. Lets just hope this all goes through, and there is no other snags in the pipeline.... lol

Great news about the refund, Freeview! I'm sure Tesco's will pay it.

    Hi Everyone.....

..... you thought it was all over??? Well guess again!!!!!! Its not.....

Went to return the TV last night as per instructions from Customer Services Manager explained over the phone to said store..... Got to the store, handed them the TV and guess what???

They rang the number.... couldnt get an answer!! When they tried some other numbers, no one had heard of this chap. When they eventually tracked him down.... He was only a Team Leader from a local store, not Customer Services Manager as the original call receptioned said he was, and as he pretended to be over phone.

No one was around to authorize this, so bless the shop floor people (and I shall be praising them in my next complaint letter) tried to speak to someone with power at our local branch. For some reason he didnt want to come downstairs, couldnt be bothered more like... But instructed them to offer me either a replacement TV?? (Not again, not another pile of cr*p... this will be my forth!!!) plus didnt they pick up on the fact I had to purchase a new TV from a different company that know what they are doing....??? Or, because its gone over the 12 month warranty... they will offer me £350 of Tesco Vouchers??

Erm, excuse me, but how much Food can one person eat??? lol. And why should I have to accept vouchers to spend back in the company that has messed me about so much.... esp when it wasnt over the 12x months.... it was 7x months in when I first complained...

So here I go again, ready to argue and kick up a stink!!! Why Tesco's why....???? are you so utterly useless??? No wonder customers are flocking and leaving in droves.... and with my spread of word, I shall help them on their way!!!

I shall update you again, when I hear more....
