It would be good I think to be able to see the tv guide on the right or leftand at the same time being able to watch the program. The TV guide could be what is aired from all the channels right now.

Good idea...
Their is a "What on Now" on the TV Player, if you click the Grid Icon then hover over a channel icon and you will see what show is currently on near the volume bar.
TVCatchup is accredited for its simplicity, whilst your idea is great. Cramming all of our channels and a TV Guide will be a lot of text.
