I take it you mean for content from broadcasters other than the main 4, all of whom offer their own 'catch-up' services, i.e. BBC iPlayer, ITVPlayer, Channel 4's 4oD, and Channel 5's Demand 5.

It strikes me that your suggestion would fall seriously foul of the digital rights police, especially those in Hollywood. Even the major broadcast networks here cannot offer all of their content on their own catch-up services due to contractual barriers. I know it was quite a legal struggle just to get the livestream TVCatchup.com service that we (who lack access to TVs with clear Freeview signals) enjoy.

I too would like to be able to catchup with past programmes, the ones I want to be able to watch later have nothing to do with the general channels as it is Create & Craft, there is no option to watch past programmes on there.

Thanks for your kind words, due to licensing requirements we wont be able to offer that service at this time.

If you read our history it was something we looked at in the past.

Maybe the answer to this is to have a TV Catchup desktop program which allows personal recording (like Sky+ and Virgin Tivo do).

That would be like a PVR, which would be excellent but wont really help with missing past programmes. (Unless you know your going to miss it or set up series link)

    Just spotted this thread.

TVC_H4U - you don't seem to indicate that PVR abilities are coming soon, yet there are several threads within the suggestion box where it is suggested this feature is coming soon.

Please can we have an update on this?

I am at a point where I am about to order Sky as I don't get aerial reception & Sky + ability is important to me. If I go with Sky, I'd be unlikely to ever use TVC. However if TVC can offer the ability to record, I see no reason to choose Sky!

    jamieukonline,

It is policy not to pre-annonce our announcements. We do not provide ETA's and have not done so for PVR.

We have previously tested a software based PVR (beta testers had a look) and we are looking to introduce PVR functionality.

The release of PVR is not imminent, it is upcoming.

I appreciate you have procedures in place and that you wouldnt want to disapoint users with an ETA that is then delayed.

However: this is so vague that I have no idea if we're talking weeks, months or years.

Well, I did say its not Imminent which would suggest that its not going to be in the next few weeks and months.

Happy you appreciate our procedures, we don't want to let people down but as you say does not help you with planning.
