Whats with the instant doubling of Adverts?

Come on guys, lets face it, no one actually wants them at all, but they're an understandablenecessity... but GUYS. tonight has seen ans instant doubling of adverts, now seeing 2 x 30 second adverts instead of the previous 1 x 30 second advert.

As a necessity (like having a job) imagine how you would feel if while participating in that necessity for the resultant gain, your boss at work instantly changed your working hours from a 40 hour week to an 80 hour week on the spot.....

Surely theres gotta be some software for regular users where you can click to bypass if you've had more than a certain amount of ads per day/hour whatever. Youtube runs something like that, regualry get to skip adverts after 5 seconds on there?????

Nope all we have done is split the '60' sec advert into two 30 sec adverts and you are getting the same timing, no change.
Also this has been in opperation for about a month now.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not spoiling for a fight in any way, but regardless of being a few days out on when it started, I NEVER used to get single 60 second long adverts, (does anyone even make a 60 second long advert), consequently my advert exposure has doubled.

You say its fair, I suggest its excessive, especially if I want to flick betweena few channels, it takes forever! (Not literally forever). ;-)

You might call our adverts excessive (I'm not too fond on them either) but we need these adverts to survive - if we had none of these adverts there wouldn't be a TVCatchup unfortunately.

If you think sitting watching 60 seconds of ads is bad try watching Dave when QI or HIGNFY is on their bloody ads run for as long as 10 minutes.
I have to admit the ads are annoying but someone has to get paid, however a "Skip Ad" button would be nice similar to YouTube functionality.

Hi Richard, we were actually talking about this today as we always try and find better ways of funding the service in making it less intrusive for the viewer, but the trouble is that these skipable adverts don't provide half as much as the full adverts, but hand on heart we are always looking at ways to make it less intrusive

Yeah I agree, will see if we can make a more mix up of adverts and I will have a word in the morning.
